With operations on five continents and 53 countries, DRS staff provide knowledge and experience in our core and ancillary competency areas. DRS covers a broad range of specialized services, from SATCOM on the move to fixed, base-station, operations, providing and provisioning global satellite services for DoD customers worldwide. Copper or fiber optic, Government or commercial, DRS provides turnkey platform and network integration and system solutions. We plan, install, operate and manage secure (SIPRNet, DRSN, JWICS), non-secure (NIPRNet, DSN), VoIP, VTC, Commercial voice and a range of other land system platforms, protocols, and networks, here and abroad.

The Global Enterprise Solutions (GES) line of business of DRS provides integrated satellite communications (SATCOM) solutions. Many of the end users we support, which include the United States (US) Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), the US Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Command, and the US Army’s Program Manager (PM) Defense Wide Transmission Systems (DWTS) Command, operate in austere and hostile locations and require 24x7x365 connectivity at locations around the globe.  In order to provide the highest level of service, GES designed, developed, and deployed the DRS Global Communications Network (GCN), which provides terrestrial backhaul, supporting satellite connectivity anywhere on Earth between 65° North by 65° South latitudes. By leveraging partnerships with six strategically located teleport locations, the GCN can provide uplink and downlink connectivity for any satellite in orbit and backhaul the satellite data feeds over a secure 2.4 gigabit transcontinental terrestrial backbone to connect to our customer’s sites. The GCN is an innovative that took USSOCOM’s core requirements, and developed an agile, scalable, value-add solution designed to meet the SATCOM terrestrial backhaul needs of all of our customers. The GCN has been the centerpiece of numerous contracts, with a total to-date billing of over $1 billion in the last five years.
